About us

Our founder was Sigurd Martin Sørensen, who aimed to offer the city's residents tobacco products under the company name M Sørensen AS. Early on, the company adopted the motto "Nihil sine labore" - nothing without work - which has since served as a guiding principle.

By the 1920s, the business had established a leading position in Norway for the sale of pipes and cigars. Tobakk-Sørensen, or Sørensen of Norway, gradually became a well-known name both domestically and internationally.

Moving forward to the 1940s, the second generation took over the company's operations. Fritjof Sørensen, having obtained his merchant's license, was ready to steer the business into the future. In the 1950s, a wholesale division was established to distribute tobacco products to business customers across the country.

In 2001, the third generation took over, managed by Fritjof's two daughters, and the wholesale division was eventually relocated to the east, specifically to Asker near Oslo. Subsequently, the company was divided, and in 2006, the Bergen store was spun off into a new company. Today, the original M Sørensen AS continues under third-generation ownership with Frid Lund, maintaining the same motto and providing tobacco products to retailers nationwide
